1. Design woes

While not inherently bad, in our opinion, we feel the BG Sync EV’s style lacks the same individualism as other electric car chargers on the market. All in all, offering a traditional charging point aesthetic.

Of course, the colour options for the interchangeable front cover do help add an edge to the Sync EV charger, especially if you go bold with a powerful red or daring dark green. Credit is given where credit is due.

However, if you take away the colour aspect, you fall slightly short when compared to more daring designs.

Still, the Sync EV charger’s tech more than makes up for it. But if you fancy an electric car charger with a little bit more flair, perhaps have a shop around – the Easee One and the Indra Smart Lux are good options.

BG Sync EV Charger Review: Are BG Sync EV chargers any good?

Overall, the BG Sync EV charger brings a lot to the charging table: a handy, easy-to-use, feature-filled app, colour customisation in nine different colours, a helpful LED Status Indicator, a strong, weatherproof build, their unique Sync Energy tariff sense, and solar compatibility.

And now, even better news: if you’re an electric car owner whose motives are strictly cost-saving, then the Sync Energy EV charger is compatible with almost all the cheapest EV tariffs on the market. Note: while the Sync is compatible with the coveted Intelligent Octopus Go, control will need to be done on the Octopus app rather than the Sync Energy app.

For full transparency, however, while not badly designed by any means, offering a typical, traditional style, other home EV chargers on the market offer more unique, daring styles that may be more compatible with your home or personal aesthetic. One to keep in mind.
