What are the benefits of the OVO EV tariff?
- Charge at any time, day or night: Charge anytime, literally. With other EV tariffs, you can only charge with discounted electricity during a set window. There’s no fixed window.
- 50% cheaper than current standard electricity rates (October 2026): Charging your electric car at 13.33p per kWh works out at 4p per mile – significantly cheaper than Ofgem’s current electricity cap of 26.32p per kWh.
- Discounts and incentives for plan versions: Free public charging vouchers, 15% off Kwik Fit and charger cover promise an all-round improved EV charging experience. More so than other EV tariffs, which don’t offer additional incentives.
- Predictable electricity bills: Know exactly what you’re paying with set electricity costs.
- Cancel anytime: No fixed contract, meaning you can cancel and switch to another EV tariff.
What are the downsides of the OVO Charge Anytime tariff?
- Pay-as-you-go is more expensive than other EV tariffs: At 13.33p per kWh, while cheaper than Ofgem’s price cap, it is more expensive than other EV tariffs. Intelligent Octopus Go, for example, is set at 7.6p per kWh.
- Voucher usage: With the benefits of smart home chargers, the need for public charging stations could be void, especially if you don’t travel far for work or pleasure. Will you use the voucher, or is it simply a nice-to-have?
