Hypervolt Home 3 Pro Review - Pros, Cons and the Verdict
Hypervolt Home 3 Pro Review
The Hypervolt Home 3 Pro is the new revamped charger from Hypervolt, replacing the previous – yet loved – Hypervolt Home 3.0. But is this Hypervolt charger worth your investment?
Today, as part of our home EV charger review series, we’re looking at the Hypervolt Home Pro 3. We break the verdict down – the upsides, downsides, and everything in between.
Let’s get into our Hypervolt Home 3 Pro review.
What is the Hypervolt Home 3 Pro?
Overall, the Hypervolt Home 3 Pro is very similar to the Home 3.0. The differences? Only small tweaks to the tech inside.
In a nutshell, the Home 3 Pro remains a tethered home EV charger designed with a premium edge in mind. It’s available in Type 1 and Type 2 formats, making it compatible with all electric vehicles in the UK. Plus, as a single-phase charger, it will deliver a maximum charging output of 7.4kW, charging your EV in 4-8 hours.
Let’s have a closer look at the Hypervolt Home 3 Pro benefits.

The Pros of the Hypervolt Home 3 Pro:
1. Ample smart features at your fingertips
The Hypervolt app puts you in control, with it’s easy to use, intuitive app. And that’s not mentioning how the charger offers a smorgasbord of unique smart charging features. Here is a comprehensive list of the Hypervolt Pro 3’s smart features:
- Solar charging (charge with free solar energy as long as you have solar panels)
- Cost tracking
- Locking and unlocking against unwanted use
- Schedule charging
- Light or dark mode in app
- Track power generation through the Hypervolt ecosystem
- Four charging modes – Battery safe, Super Eco, Eco, and Boost
- Load balancing
2. Tariff integration
Previously, tariff compatibility was not part of Hypervolt Home 3’s portfolio. Now, however, Hypervolt’s partnerships have spread far and wide. Who, you ask? Octopus and OVO.
In fact, you’ll be pleased to know that Hypervolt is fully compatible with the coveted EV tariffs: Intelligent Octopus Go and OVO Charge Anytime. So, you can charge for as little as 7p per kWh with the correct energy tariff and ecosystem.
Even better, whispers are circling that Hypervolt will soon be compatible with EDF’s EV tariff, opening up new savings to those with EDF for their energy. Another win for the Home 3, especially given that EDF only has compatibility with Pod Point currently.
3. Premium look, feel and build
Available in three minimalistic, monochrome cover colours, White, Black, and Space Grey, the Hypervolt Home 3 surpasses its brief of a premium appearance. To the eye, the quality and design are a subtle addition to your home, offering an aesthetic extension rather than a distraction. The only area which may draw attention is the Hypervolt’s striking lightning bolt on the front. However, given the modern, futuristic appeal of the Home Pro 3, we feel most users will enjoy this edge.
A pain point for some tethered EV charger owners is the cable. Where do you put the cable, given that it’s firmly attached to the unit? Let in dangle in mid-air? Drape across your driveway?
No need to worry. Using the integrated cable holder, you can easily wrap the Hypervolt’s cable around the charger. Neat and discreet – it’s tucked away from view while being available when you need it most.
Over and above the visuals, the Hypervolt’s build, constructed of nylon and advanced polycarbonate compounds, stands the test of time, weather, and whatever you can throw at it. As a matter of fact, the Hypervolt Home 3 Pro is waterproof and dustproof with its IP66 Protection, 95% UV durability and UK10 hardness.
4. Unique, novelty features
Smart home integration with Amazon Alexa is an exclusive feature of Hypervolt car chargers. Connect your Home 3 Pro and Alexa, and you can manage various aspects of your home charging with voice control. Control LED brightness, check charging status, and start/stop charging. All from the comfort of inside your own home.
While a novelty, you can also shift your LED into different modes: Party, Halloween and even Union Jack. We’re not sure when exactly you would need this, but if you fancy a little light show of your own, you’re all set.

The Cons of the Hypervolt Home 3 Pro:
1. Higher price point
Across the growing home EV charger market, the Hypervolt Home 3 Pro places itself near the higher end of the price spectrum. Roughly speaking, the Home 3 Pro with a 5 metre cable costs £1,100 with installation. Some of its features definitely justify the cost, but others might leave you questioning whether it’s worth the investment.
That said, when you stack it up against other top contenders like the VCHRGD or evec, which offer solar integration and load balancing for a lower price, you might start to wonder if you’re getting the best bang for your buck.
2. Chunkier build
The Hypervolt Home 3 Pro, while undeniably high-tech and chic, is one of the larger chargers on the market, measuring 328mm (H) x 243mm (W) x 101mm (D). If subtlety is your priority and you’d rather your EV charger quietly complement your home rather than draw attention, this might feel a bit too glaring – especially in White.
Smaller alternatives like the Ohme Home Pro (170mm x 200mm x 200mm) or the Easee One (256mm x 183mm x 106mm) offer a more understated approach without sacrificing functionality.

Hypervolt Home 3 Pro – Is it right for you?
The Hypervolt Home 3 Pro ticks a lot of boxes. Ergonomically, it’s easy to use and conveniently made with the consumer in mind, like the integrated cable holder.
Visually, it’s a premium-looking charger that is perfect for those who prefer contemporary, futuristic designs.
With this in mind, we feel the Hypervolt Home Pro 3 is a perfect home EV charger for tech enthusiasts who want a feature-rich charger and whose style preferences edge towards the modern side. Especially if you include how Hypervolt and octopus intelligent go hand in hand.
However, for those who prefer straightforward charging without the flash or are on a budget, we would not recommend Hypervolt due to its higher price tag.
