IONITY Charging Stations: The Road Map To IONITY

Ready to dive into the world of public electric vehicle (EV) charging? Next up in our series: IONITY – the high-power charging network turning heads across 24 European countries.

Today, we’ll spark your curiosity as we break down the IONITY network, from costs to charging locations and all the electrifying details in between. Buckle up – this is one you won’t want to miss.

What is IONITY?

IONITY is a powerhouse in the European electric car charging scene. Headquartered in Germany but with charging points across 24 countries (including the UK), it’s a truly continental rapid public network champion. And that’s now mentioning how the network is backed by leading car manufacturers Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Ford, and VW.

Sustainability is also no stranger. All IONITY EV charging is powered by 100% renewable energy.

Hundreds of ultra-rapid charging points branch out across the UK, making the network perfect for EV drivers after speedy charging. Plug in, power up, and hit the road in no time.

Where are the IONITY chargers in the UK?

From motorway stations to major UK roads, IONITY charging points are where you need them the most. Think of long distances or cross-country adventures.

How many IONITY chargers are the in UK?

IONITY is frequently extending their web of convenient, ultra-rapid charging stations. In fact, currently, there are 292 fast chargers available across 38 locations in the UK – and 28 on the way.

Tall. White. Purple logo plastered on the side. Often, IONITY will have a red kite bird near the logo, too, coloured in IONITY’s signature purple.

IONITY charging points are not hard to miss, nor are they intended to be.

What IONITY charging speeds are available?

IONITY’s high power charging stations offer faster charging speeds that you might find closer to home. Instead of 7kW or 22kW charging points (considered fast charging stations), IONITY 350kW chargers are the standard for their rapid charging network.

Please note that not all electric cars can take advantage of the 350 kW maximum charging speed.

How do I find IONITY charging points near me?

Download the IONITY App or use the IONITY map to find IONITY charging locations. Don’t want to waste phone space? Instead of IONITY’s charging network map, use popular map apps such as Zap-Map and search for ‘IONITY chargers near me.‘ You’ll be able to search for other charging networks, too – without having to clog up space on your phone.

How much does it cost to charge an IONITY charger?

Unlike other charging networks that set a fixed price per kWh, like Sainsbury’s and Instavolt, the cost of IONITY chargers depends on your IONITY subscription. The general rule of thumb is the better the subscription, the cheaper the price.

Here are the current prices for IONITY charging points:
