EDF EV Tariffs Explained: GoElectric & Pod Power

Energy companies are one of the backbones of the UK’s transition to electric. From supplying electricity to charge your electric car to offering discounted tariffs to make home EV charging cheaper and greener, these companies are leading the charge.

One of these core organisations is EDF Energy, a leading force in the UK’s energy market, providing innovative and reliable electricity and gas solutions to millions in the UK.

And while EDF Energy has always had plenty of tariff options, now, there’s something special just for EV owners…

Say hello to EDF’s all-new electric car tariffs: the Go Electric and the Pod Power.

But between the two, which one is right for you?

Get the rundown on the EDF Energy EV tariffs in our comprehensive guide (2026 update).

Does EDF have an EV tariff?

Good news: EDF doesn’t just have one EV tariff.

In fact, EDF has two cost-saving EV tariffs that electric car drivers can take advantage of in 2026:

  1. GoElectric
  2. Pod Power

Let’s get into the nitty-gritty of each EDF electric car tariff.

1.  EDF’s GoElectric Tariff

What is the EDF’s GoElectric Tariff?

In short, EDF’s GoElectric Overnight fixed tariff offers 6.99p per kWh for 7 hours during EDF off-peak electricity times from 11 pm to 6 am – seven days a week.

What do I need for the GoElectric Overnight tariff?

  • A smart meter installed at home that is compatible with EDF and can send half-hour updates
  • Be a customer of EDF (if not, you need to sign up for their Variable tariff)
  • Sign up for the GoElectric tariff
  • An electric vehicle
  • Any smart EV charger installed at home (you don’t need an EDF car charger)
  • Pay by Direct Debit
  • A smart mobile phone to manage charging

2.  EDF’s Pod Power EV Tariff

What is the Pod Power EV tariff?

A dynamic partnership: EDF and Pod Point have collaborated on this new low-cost tariff. The exclusive Pod Point charger customer tariff offers seven hours of off-peak electricity at 6.49p per kWh, seven days a week from 11 pm to 6am.

What do you need for the EDF Pod EV tariff?

  • A Solo 3S Pod home charger (you can’t use any other home EV charger)
  • Any electric car
  • An EDF smart meter installed at your property and able to send half an hourly reading
  • Be an EDF customer, signed up to their variable tariff and then the Pod Point EDF tariff
  • Pay by Direct Debit
  • A smart mobile phone

Good to know:

  • 100% of electricity generated during EDF’s off-peak hours is fossil-fuel-free and entirely renewable.
  • Each EDF Energy electric vehicle tariff has specific requirements (find eligibility for the tariffs on the EDF website)
  • During peak hours, EDF standard tariff rates will apply.
  • EDF’s off-peak times differ depending on the tariff. These hours are usually when you charge their cars overnight.
  • Each EDF tariff price fluctuates depending on the chosen tariff.

Is an EDF EV Tariff worth it?

Absolutely. In fact, EDF offers some of the cheapest EV tariffs available (April 2026). Previously, EDF matched other tariffs on the market, or was just pipped, but if you compare with leading names such as Intelligent Octopus Go, with off-peak tariff rates of 8p per kWh, and the British Gas EV Power tariff at 9p per kWh, EDF now takes pole position.

Taking advantage of the EDF GoElectric tariff is therefore an excellent choice for EV drivers looking to maximise cost savings, especially if you are already a pre-existing customer.

Of course, if you already own a Pod home charger, then their special partnership rate is also a first-class option at a ridiculously low off-peak rate of 6.49p.

To top it all off, since 1st April 2026, both EDF EV tariffs have an off-peak charging window of 11 pm to 6 am – the longest discounted charging window available across all EV tariffs on the market.
