We are now an accredited Safe Isolation Provider under the REC
Safe Isolation Provider – We Power Your Car
What is a Safe Isolation Provider (SIP)?
Since June 2023, it has been a legal requirement that service fuses for metering equipment can only be removed by:
- Your electricity supplier (or their appointed agent)
- Your Distribution Network Operator (DNO)
- A SIP (Safe Isolation Provider)
A Safe Isolation Provider must be registered under the Retail Energy Code (REC) to legally carry out this work.
We are proud to announce that we are now a fully accredited SIP provider under the Retail Energy Code. With the coveted SIP accreditation, our highly trained electricians can safely and legally de-energise, re-energise and seal an electricity supply to carry out an electric vehicle charger installation without the need and delay of having an energy supplier install an isolator switch.
“We passed our Elec EMO audit in November, and today, we have confirmation that the REC has approved We Power Your Car as a Safe Isolation Provider.
This is a major milestone for the business and puts us among a very small, elite group of companies who can carry out de-energisation of supplies safely and legally, as well as installing isolation switches.
It is clearly not a process for everyone, but ultimately, it is the way the industry is going, and it’s essential to be on the right side of legislation.”

Fitting isolator switches
In electrical systems, isolation switches enable equipment to be safely disconnected from the power source. They are an essential safety component, allowing electricians to perform maintenance and other work without worrying about accidents or electric shock.
Being a Safe Isolation Provider allows us to install isolator switches at homes across the UK.
