Fastned Charging Stations: A How-to Use Fastned Network Guide

Next, in our public charging network series, we unload the Fastned public electric car charging network.

Known for its sustainably focused and stylish nature, Fastned charging stations stand out among the charging network crowd. But where are they located? How much do they cost? And is it worth using the network?

Today, we answer your questions and more in our complete guide to the Fastned EV charging network.

Who and what is the Fastned Charging Network?

In short, the Fastned network was one of the early pioneers in establishing and managing high-speed EV infrastructure across European highways. Since 2021, they have been leading the way in rapid EV charging. Currently, over 2,000 EV chargers at 340 locations in 9 countries keep electric drivers in the fast lane.

Designed with the earth in mind, Fastned is B Corp Certified, having saved 96.100 tonnes of emissions in 2023 alone. Plus, every charge comes from 100% renewable energy harnessed from the sun and wind.

What do the charging points look like?

Think of a bumblebee. Not the shape or size but the colour scheme. When out and about, Fastned UK charging points come in an array of black, white and yellow.

Still struggling? Look high and wide, too, and spot the yellow nature-inspired, zig-zag canopies above – or, technically, what they call solar trees. Covering ground above and below, they are instantly recognisable from its grand structure.

All in all, you can’t miss them.

How can I find Fastned stations near me?

A station for every location. That’s what Fastned say. And they are right. With hundreds of chargers across the UK already, Fastned charging stations are there when you need them.

To specifically find Fastned charging near you, use their helpful map tool. Or, use other map apps like Electroverse or Zap-Map. You get a broader view of not only Fastned locations but all public charging networks near you with these map apps.

How do you charge your electric car with Fastned?

  1. Find your pit stop – or, more specifically, an EV charger near you
  2. Plug in and power up – Park in the bay and plug in using the correct charging connector
  3. Choose your charging method – app, contactless card or RFID card. You decide.
  4. Start your charge – Use the screen or the app, depending on your charging method, to start the charging session
  5. Hang your cable and drive on – Once charged, press stop on the screen to end the charging sessions. Make sure you tidy up your cable too. Whether this be your boot with a socketed cable or looping your cable around the charging station – leave the charging station as you would want to find it.

How much does it cost to charge with Fastned?

Currently, you charge your electric car with Fastned for 74p per kWh. This is an increase from 69p per kWh pre January 2025. To save, sign up for the membership at £9.99 and get a juicy 30% off. Their app is available on both Google Play and the Apple Store.

How fast do Fastned chargers go?

Think fast. Across the UK, Fastned offers a variety of super fast charging stations. These rapid and ultra-rapid charging stations range from 50kW to the highest possible rate of 400kW. Most commonly, Fastned chargers are 300kW.

This means, you can get 300 miles of range in just 20 minutes with certain chargers. Now that’s speedy charging.

Which cars can use the network?

Currently, Fastned offers CHAdeMO, CCS and AC charging points. What does this mean? It means all electric vehicles are compatible with Fastned EV charging stations. Think Tesla, BMW and other leading EVs.
