Best Electric Pickup Trucks UK: Buyer’s Guide
The UK electric vehicle market is bulldozing ahead, with over 1,850,000 electric cars cruising on UK roads to date. In fact, the UK is now set to be the second-largest electric car market in Europe.
But what about the electric pickup truck segment? Are there electric pickup trucks available in the UK? Are they popular?
In today’s guide, we answer that and more, exploring electric pickup trucks in all their glory.
Quick summary
- The best electric pickup truck in the UK is the eTerron 9 Maxus.
- Only two fully electric pickup trucks are available in the UK: the eTerron 9 Maxus and Maxus T90 EV.
- The EV truck market will likely grow the closer it gets to the 2030 ban on the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles.
Are there any fully electric pickup trucks in the UK?
The short answer? A humble two. To date, the Maxus T90EV and the Maxus eTerron 9 are the only fully electric pick-up trucks for sale in the UK.
If you’re searching for a vehicle with a blend of electric and petrol, there’s a larger range of hybrid electric pickup truck models available.
Still, even including the hybrid models, electric and hybrid pickup trucks make up only a small percentage of the electric market.

Which is the best hybrid pickup truck in the UK?
1. Ford Ranger Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV)
Ford Ranger Spec |

| Price | From £30,000 for baseline |
| WLTP Range | 26 miles (WLTP) |
| Dimensions | 5,350 mm x 2,208 mm x 1,878 mm |
| Seats | 5 |
| Towing capacity | 3,500 kg |

The Ford Ranger Plug-In Hybrid is the first plug-in hybrid in the UK, and the UK’s bestselling pick-up.
Elements like its 3,500kg towing capacity, four selectable driving modes, and Terrain Management System make the Ranger a high-performing, robust pick-up to tackle any terrain.
Since it’s a plug-in hybrid and not a BEV, rapid charging is not available. And truth be told, the range is almost non-existent. Of course, this is expected in a plug-in hybrid, with the focus more on the petrol side.
All in all, the Ford Ranger is the perfect choice for those who want greener driving without range anxiety, especially given that it’s won its fourth international pick-up award in 2026.
Best features:
- High 3,500 kg towing capacity
- Different colour options
- EcoBlue diesel engines
- Different drive modes for varying terrain with dial
- Heated seats
- 12-inch screen
Are there any hybrid or electric pickup truck models coming soon?
Here is a list of the Hybrid and electric pickup truck contenders coming soon:
1. BYD Shark 6 Pickup (2026)
Already available in several countries, including South Africa and Australia, the BYD Shark 6 Pickup PHEV will cost roughly £40,000.
Inside sources suggest the Shark 6 will likely be available for UK drivers later this year.
Although no official date has been set.
2. Isuzu D-Max EV (2026)
With a starting price of £59,995, the Isuzu D-Max EV entry-level electric pick-up truck is scheduled to arrive in the UK this month (February 2026).
Drivers desperate to get their hands on Isuzu’s very first electric pickup will therefore have free purchasing reign in March 2026.
3. Toyota Hilux Revo BEV (2026)
Priced from £60,000, the Hilux Revo BEV is the first fully electric pickup from Toyota, forecasted to be on sale from June 2026.
From what information we have been given, the Revo is high on the price scale, with sadly a seemingly smaller spec all-round, including a range of only 150 miles, a 59.2kW battery, and a meagre payload of 715kg.
Overall, it’s likely you’ll use the Toyota Hilux Revo BEV for light work, not hard work.
4. Scout Terra (2028)
In a retro, old-school design and a generous 350+ miles of range for a pick-up truck, the fully electric Scout Terra is said to start production in 2027 and arrive in dealerships from 2028.
Whether that happens is a different issue. Over the years, production has been pushed back. Repeatedly.
It’s not great for UK pickup drivers, too. The Scout Terra will be sold in the US only.
Are there any other electric pickup trucks available outside the UK?
A huge yes. In fact, significantly more electric pickup trucks are available for purchase outside the UK. Especially in the US, where the pickup truck market is exponentially larger to begin with.
Below are just a handful:
1. Tesla Cybertruck
If you haven’t seen the Tesla Cybertruck, you’re probably living under a rock. Arguably, the most famous electric pickup truck in existence, and all because of the Cybertruck’s rather unique design.
Silver. Tinny. Angular. Sharp. Robotic.
Not to everyone’s tastes.
But it’s caused quite a stir in the electric pickup truck market.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on your stance, the Tesla Cybertruck isn’t available for sale in the UK. And there are no signs of this changing either.
Where is the Tesla Cybertruck available?
- North America
- Middle East
2. Hummer EV
Can one word describe the Hummer EV? Yes: monstrous. Named a supertruck (for good reason), the enormous electric pickup truck defies outdated visions of pickup trucks and blasts them with height, weight and technology.
With over 300 miles of range, a whopping 350kW DC fast charging, and advanced off-road technology such as CrabWalk diagonal steering, the Hummer EV is a powerful, techy beast.
In the Hummer’s case, bigger is actually better.
At $96,000, the large electric pickup is clearly a large investment.
3. Chevrolet Silverado EV
Coming in hot with up to 478 miles of range, the new 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV is making a name for itself in the electric pickup space. With one, if not the, best range available for a pick-up truck.
Inside, you have a spacious cabin, featuring a smart 17.7-inch diagonal touchscreen. And that’s not all. The full tech spread includes a Super Cruise option for hands-free driving, Advanced Park Assist, rear camera mirror and a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot—to name a few.
Outside, it stands out for its sleek, futuristic take on the classic vision of a pick-up truck, while consistently offering space for carry-on with its under-hood eTrunk and its Multi-Flex Midgate, extending the foot bed to nearly 11 feet. Loading is also backed in with its humongous 12,500 lbs towing capacity.
But high spec comes with a price. From $55,000 for the standard edition to over $100,000 for higher spec versions, the Silverado demands a high price for its high rewards.
4. GMC Sierra EV
Premium performance and tantalising tech create the fully electric GMC Sierra EV.
Get access to a whopping 460 miles of range, 350kW DC charging capabilities and a towing capacity of up to 10,500 pounds. Plus, a smorgasbord of features, including a16.8-inch infotainment screen, a Multipro Midgate feature to expand the bed, and optional Super Cruise mode.
The kicker is, unfortunately, the price. We’re looking at the top-end for the GMC Sierra EV. Cheapest? Around the $60,000 mark. Most expensive? $100,000.
Discontinued electric pickup trucks:
1. Ford F-150 Lightning
In late 2025, Ford decided to put an end to its large electric pickup truck, the F-150 Lightning.
Reportedly, the high production costs and the dwindling sales meant that the F-150 Lightning electric pickup lacked profitability.
The F-150 Lightning was never officially available for sale in the UK.
2. RAM 1500 REV
The fully electric pickup truck, the RAM 1500 REV, was set to arrive on UK shores this year (2026), forecasted to cost roughly £46,600.
But global-leader Stellantis axed its fully electric pickup truck before it went on sale, amongst fears of a dwindling market.
What’s the future of the electric pickup truck market?
In our opinion, the electric pickup truck market will undoubtedly change in the future.
But for the better.
Change will start with the 2030 ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles. A massive transition will take place before and during this time as manufacturers slowly change their portfolios to match the increasing electric demand.
As more and more UK drivers go electric, becoming the norm, manufacturers will need to cater to the pickup truck market. Or miss out.
It’s already on the radar of certain manufacturers, with Ford themselves having said they will commit to a £30,000 electric pickup by 2027.
This won’t be for a while, though. The number of discontinued electric pickup truck models seems to be a common theme for manufacturers, especially in the UK EV pickup truck market, which has a tiny pool of pickup truck drivers compared to other markets, such as the US.
All in all, the change is coming. But it’s not imminent.
