The Workplace Charging Scheme for state-funded education institutions offers grants for state-funded schools and education institutions in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland (excluding the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man) to install electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints.
Eligible institutions can receive 75% off the cost of purchasing and installing chargepoints, up to £2,500 per socket. There's a limit of 40 sockets across all sites. An authorised installer must carry out the installation of approved commercial chargepoints.
Applicants must demonstrate a need for EV charging, have designated off-street parking, have completed a site survey confirming EV charging feasibility, and have not received a grant for the same chargepoint from other schemes. Organisations must have the authority to apply and have received less than £315,000 in minimal financial assistance over the past three fiscal years. Academy trusts may apply for the maximum socket allocation for each institution within the trust.
